Less a git tree, more a manzanita -- sprawls in every direction, thrives where other plants won't. Still branching.

I see the matrix in things. I love breaking problems down until they stop being confusing -- if something doesn't make sense, I haven't broken it down small enough. That's the approach. It's also the addiction. To me, true understanding should bring relaxation, not anxiety or analysis paralysis. My version of empathy is taking the time to learn a system inside and out so we can improve it together.

The longer version is this site.

"I believe the highest form of connection is taking the time to truly understand a problem—and the person having it."

I've been distracted by everything all at once for as long as I can remember. The way systems connect, the way concepts layer across domains, the way a problem in networking rhymes with a problem in something completely unrelated -- I can't not see the patterns.

Building this site, and building in public, is my way of taking that restless, relentless need to optimize and forcing it into a productive outlet. It's how I hold myself accountable.

I believe people solve problems better when they're solving them for someone else. I've applied that my whole life: break it down, make it concrete, hand it to a human. That's where the help actually lands.

The path here

It started where a lot of people started: game servers as a kid, Plex for the family, figuring out why the internet was slow. That turned into a homelab. The homelab turned into an obsession with how things actually work -- not just that they do, but why, and what breaks when you push them.

Self-taught by background, CalBright by current enrollment -- backfilling the formal pieces while the practical work runs in parallel. Security+ done. CySA+ and Net+ in progress. Every cert is a framework for things I've already bumped into in the lab.

We are both the marble and the sculptor.

What this site is

This is where I document it publicly. Not because everything is figured out -- it isn't -- but because building in public is how I hold myself accountable and occasionally help someone else avoid an afternoon of confusion.

If something here clicks, or you want to think through a problem together, that's what it's for.

Currently building

  • Proxmox homelab, PBS backups, and a local AI inference server called Phred
  • CUE-Verse: a framework for giving your homelab depth and linked memory
  • Aeon Desktop: an immutable Linux workstation experiment
  • This site, one post at a time
